Foreign Destabilization
Chinese companies are purchasing farmland across the nation especially near military installations that are raising national security concerns. We wonder how or why this has happened in the first place, as China is one of our biggest adversaries purchased farmland close/nearby our military installation.
In the 1980s the Reagan Administration, Russian spying in the tech industry started in California. During the 1980s, Russian spies set up and down San Francisco Peninsula, stealing technology, recruiting agents, and infiltrating local banks. Silicon Valley was a clandestine battleground during the Cold War. The Soviet consulate in San Francisco, opened just a year after Intel commercialized the microprocessor.
It was staffed with intelligence officers whose careers were in science and technology. Operatives spied on personnel at local technology companies and universities like Stanford and Berkeley and stole semiconductor manufacturing equipment and tried buying stakes in local banks to gain access to borrowers’ intellectual property, a form of practice New York senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan called a “new form of industrial espionage" that “doesn’t involve people stealing blueprints; they own the blueprints."
In 1984, William Casey, the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, told the Commonwealth Club of Silicon Valley that “penetrating local industry was the KGB’s top industrial espionage priority”. Casey said. “Silicon Valley and your firms are the primary target of Soviet and East European intelligence services. In 1983, just a year earlier, the Soviets had started producing the Agat, a knockoff of Silicon Valley’s first commercially successful personal computer the Apple II.
The United States counterintelligence office sent out aired public service announcements warning electronics companies to be vigilant, and restricted Soviet journalists and diplomats from travelling in the region and prosecuted people who violated the embargo selling microelectronics manufacturing equipment to Eastern Bloc countries.
President Reagan and secretary of state George Shultz viewed the Soviet misdeeds as a strategic opportunity. They used Silicon Valley’s entrepreneurial success as an opportunity to discredit the Soviets failing system and as an example of the benefits the Soviets could gain through liberalization.
Reagan said in a speech at Moscow State University in 1988, “I want to talk about a very different revolution that is taking place right now, quietly sweeping the globe without bloodshed or conflict." This transformation is “called the technological or information revolution, and as its emblem, one might take the tiny silicon chip, no bigger than a fingerprint,".
Reagan and Schultz saw those countries willing to apply market principles and embrace some degree of openness could leave the industrial age and enter the information age, without having to wholly reinvent themselves in the US image. Silicon Valley and entrepreneurial capitalism won the Cold War. Reagan, the most popular Republican president of the modern era, used this to convert Russian misconduct into leverage for the United States.
As Reagan saw the Soviet countries willing to apply market principles and embrace some degree of openness, we now see that this is a national security risk today.
Free market principles are great but at what cost of risking our nation’s security do we have to re-look at how and who can participate. We have adversaries practicing capitalism and “collecting” intelligence.
Do we have to re-examine our laws for foreign investors and limit the resources they can buy? We know how our adversaries operate and should have learned lessons during the 1980s, one would assume that our Federal Government and elected representatives would have at least made this more of a concern earlier on and better yet, have had established policy that would prevented this from happening again.
In History and recent years the U.S government took land by destroying, killing, burning, and bombing against its own citizens and federal takeover with the IRS, FBI and the United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM) confiscation due to political and government overreach. Is our own government doing this to its own citizens so the highest foreign bidder can take control of our resources in the name of globalism?
People are losing homes; the banks are making it harder to buy and modify due to many stipulations that make it more difficult to be a homeowner. When do we tell our representatives enough? Our liberties are being taken away and if we say anything against this, we are called Xenophobes, because our adversaries know exactly how to use our own history, laws, and constitution against us.
For many years Black and Native Americans have tried to warn about government infiltration and “investors” in the communities.
Even by watching Cliven Bundy, and law enforcements 21-year legal dispute with the United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM) obtained court orders directing Bundy to pay over $1 million in withheld grazing fees for Bundy's use of federally owned land adjacent to Bundy's ranch in southeastern Nevada.
The U.S government discriminated against black farmers who lost billions in land value, during the 20th century. From 1922 to 1997, Black farmers in 17 states saw a decline in their acreage caused by state-sanctioned violence and intimidation. The USDA has admitted to having discriminated against black farmers.
Number of black farmers declined by 98%. Still today, they are still fighting to have equality in farming, but our own government has allowed foreign adversaries to buy land and near military installations.
As previously written regarding the second stage of ideological brainwashing is “destabilization”. During this period, Bezmenov stated, what matters is the targeting of essential structural elements of a nation: economy, foreign relations, and defense systems.
China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran are now facing a ban on farm purchases in the United States after an update to language from the House Appropriations Committee on the USDA-FDA funding bill/
Foreign holdings on U.S. lands have doubled between 2009 and 2019. In 2020, foreign ownership of U.S. land was 37.5 million total acres. Over 40 percent of the growth was in Oklahoma, Texas, and Colorado. Canadian investors own 29 percent of the foreign-owned land in the United States.
China, Russia, and Iran accounted for 0.2 million acres in 2019, 0.7 percent of all foreign-owned agricultural land. China holds 60 percent of this total, which its ownership of Smithfield Foods, that includes 140,000 acres.
There was no law that restricted foreign persons from securing subsidies offered by crop and livestock insurance programs. Our own government has allowed destabilization grow rapidly to dismantle our government systems with the end game of a new ideology of reality. It is up to us, the American people to start to hold representatives accountable now before its too late to overturn this phase.
These companies create LLC, S- Corp etc.. in just one person’s name that is already a citizen how can we then deny a “citizen” from buying land. This is not on MSM radar because these same adversaries have stake in the news media.
Even with new restrictions, these countries will find ways to bypass them. Will our own government help them find loopholes so they would profit from this? Will elected officials keep up the façade of caring and have stock in these investment companies that can register as a U.S company and not foreign?
These are questions that need to be asked and monitored. We will see years to come if our own government will put the American people first and the American people to reclaim liberty.
